The last Indecision 2004 won the Daily Show a Peabody Award for its “unmatched wit and unorthodox approach”.

As it turns out, there is a phenomena gaining ground for bloggers and web site developers for a Presidential Campaign for the Stewart/Colbert Ticket in2008.  This could actually be a meaningful addition to the 2008 issues.

With an “unorthodox view” sites are cropping up with numerous strategies to vie for the attention of viewers.  They all are using the Stewart/Colbert popularity to draw attention.  Some are actually adding news, comedy, satire and campaign gear to draw more eyeballs.

I think both conventions would stand to gain by a large contingent of supporters wearing “Truthiness” T-Shirts in the crowd, but I think they will not greatly appreciate such an edge faction.

But what if a satirical Stewart/Colbert trend does become something talked about in the mainstream, and ore people watch the fake news shows, and it in turns make them look at the issues on more serious talk shows and raise their expectation of candidates?  Would it actually make for a better election in 2008?

What should be done with this "campaign"?  In the spirit of the satirical newsmen, it should probably serve the same purpose as their shows, which is to make you laugh, and often, make you think.  Pointing out the theater of the absurd seems to be the success of these shows and a presidential campaign for Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert should probably have similar goals.

There is more of a use for this to create dialogue and get people engaged as the Indecision 2008 will.  With people commenting on issues and joining dialogues inside the powerful blogs that are now dominating political thought for so many people, a Stewart/Colbert 2008 Presidential Campaign could actually reach as many people as some other candidates.

The great fear should be the off chance people actually vote for them because they are so fed up with everyone.  This would, with little doubt, be devastating for a democratic candidate.  These shows are comfortable knocking anyone, have a liberal slant that cannot be argued.
